Dental Health Q & A

How do I maintain good dental health?

One of the keys to maintaining good dental health is developing the right habits early on. Starting in childhood, you should begin paying regular visits to Dr. Hsu to learn proper brushing and flossing techniques to avoid problems like cavities from occurring.

Maintaining good oral health throughout your life, from childhood, and into adulthood is an important part of living a long, happy, and healthy life. Make sure to keep up your regular visits with Dr. Hsu. During your visits, he assesses your dental health and makes recommendations on how often you should come in for dental health evaluations, cleanings, and standard dental procedures.

When you are a new patient, Dr. Hsu enrolls you in what he has coined his Dental Health Fitness Program: A Road to Dental Health.

What is dental health fitness?

Dental health fitness refers to your dedicated upkeep of good oral hygiene habits that help ensure optimal dental health. At each subsequent routine hygiene visit, Dr. Hsu and his hygienist work closely with you to tinker with and update your at-home care routine, namely your flossing, brushing, and any customized techniques or strategies they recommend.

With regular monitoring and adjustments, Dr. Hsu treats your dental health like a fitness program, constantly striving for results and setting goals. The aim is reducing the time and money you spend in the dental chair repairing the damage caused by recurrent dental diseases. By controlling your risk for active dental disease, Dr. Hsu believes it is possible to be decay-free and keep your teeth for the rest of your life.

Does the Dental Health Fitness Program work?

Dr. Hsu is so confident in the power of his approach to dental health care that he authorized an outside study exploring its success.

This study examined the dental history of 104 patients who had addressed all of their dental needs with Dr. Hsu's lifetime dentistry. These patients maintained an average plaque-free level of 87% following their lifetime dentistry, for an average of about 10 years after completing all of their prescribed dental work. Of these 104 patients, not one lost a tooth, and 75% had no further dental needs due to decay.
