Dentistry During Covid - 19

The outbreak of the COVID 19 virus is continuing to disrupt economic, social, and healthcare systems all around the world, putting millions of people in severe crisis. The pandemic has dramatically changed everyone's routines and habits, and one among them is how people visit their dentists.

Since most dental procedures and treatments involve face-to-face contact between the patient and the provider without a face mask, dental services carry a high risk of infection. To deal with these, public health agencies like ADA, CDC, and OSHA have issued several guidelines and policies for enhanced infection control and protection from the novel Coronavirus.

Is my dental office safe?

Since the advent of COVID-19, dental offices worldwide have been diligent in steps to ensure the safety of patients and providers by implementing all the government mandates to stop the spread of the virus.

Now, two years into the pandemic, we have the benefit of more research and knowledge to help dentists make the best decisions to prevent the spread of the infection in their dental practices. When patients all over the world are trying to seek an answer to whether it is safe to undergo a dental procedure during the pandemic, the answer is a clear Yes. Here is why!

Viruses are present everywhere, at any place. However, thanks to the strict sanitation rules and hygiene practices, it can be assured that healthcare facilities, including dental practices, are always the cleanest and safest places one could go. This is because, for ages, dental practices have always been strictly following several stringent safety guidelines like washing hands after each procedure, dentists wearing masks and gloves, sterilizing the tools, and discarding needles after use.

Here are the measures our dental practice have always followed, even before the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, that helps prevent the virus spread:

  • Masks and gloves:The most reliable and dependable way to prevent the virus spread from an infected person to a healthy one is by wearing a face mask. This has been a practice dental professionals always follow while treating patients. Besides, we also ask our patients to wear a face mask or shield when they visit us.
  • Sanitization and disinfection of work tools: Every dental practice, including us, sanitizes work surfaces, equipment, and instruments after every procedure to eradicate any possible germs or viruses.

And in light of the pandemic, dental practices, including Wellness Centered Dentistry, have enforced a few more modifications to how dental appointments and consultations are scheduled. Here are them:

  • During appointment scheduling, we ask our patients a few pre-screening questions to understand their current health status.
  • Once our patients get into our office, we conduct contactless temperature checks. We perform the same for our staff as well.
  • We ensure to maintain social distancing in our office by scheduling only a few dental appointments at a time.
  • Sanitizers are available in all rooms in our dental office for patients and staff.
  • Before starting every dental procedure, we give an oral antimicrobial rinse to our patients.

Your safety is our promise.

At Wellness Centered Dentistry, we assure the safety of our providers and patients by stringently following safety guidelines to prevent the transmission of the virus. So, visit us confidently and never let the virus outbreak take a toll on your dental health.
